Finding Your US Shipping Address

This article describes how you can save hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars by ordering from US websites and having your orders shipped to a border KinekPoint that acts as your US Shipping Address. We notify you when it gets there, and securely store it until you pick it up.
UPDATE: Check out our new iPhone app! Find, ship to, and track packages at our many US Border Shipping Addresses!

First Off, What is a Border KinekPoint?

Our Border KinekPoints specialize in receiving packages for Canadian cross border shoppers and act as their US shipping address. Once your package arrives we notify you and then store it securely until you come to pick it up. All of our locations are just a few minutes’ drive past the border and are located at almost every major border crossing in Canada. In order to ship to one of our locations, you simply need to sign-up for a free account at and choose a location to ship to.

How Do Border KinekPoints Save Me Money?

  1. Many companies do not ship to Canada. This often means you have to buy the item for upwards of 40-50% more in Canada, and sometimes it isn’t even sold locally!
  2. Even when companies DO ship to Canada, their shipping charges are often far too expensive. By using a border KinekPoint as your US shipping address, you can get your package at the border without paying those expensive fees.
  3. Brokerage fees. These are those nasty fees that are charged in order to process your item at customs. These often aren’t factored in during the checkout process and you are made to pay them when the item arrives at your doorstep. By using a US border KinekPoint as your US border shipping address, you don’t spend a dime on these fees.

OK, So How Much Does It Cost to Use a KinekPoint?

This is the best part, even though shipping to one of our US Border KinekPoints can save you hundreds, or thousands of dollars, we don’t charge anything to sign-up for the service. The only fee your EVER pay is when you pick-up a package. For the vast majority of our locations, we only charge $5 for packages under 10lbs. Don’t let that 10lbs fool you though, most of our locations will accept packages of any size or weight! We just charge more depending on how large/heavy your item is, and all this information can be found on each KinekPoint’s profile page over at More on that later. though.

How Long Do I Have to Pick-up My Package?

You have 30 days from the delivery date to pick-up your package. However, we understand that in sometimes you can’t make it down that soon, so if you contact your KinekPoint, they are usually more than happy to accommodate the package for longer. Just keep in mind there will be an additional storage fee for that item depending on how large it is. We are more than happy to act as your US Shipping Address, but only have so much space :)

This is really an amazing service. It save a lot of dollars and provides a time frame of 30 days to picking up. Great Service for U.S. and Canada citizens. I love it and using it from last 1 year. But this service should be expendable to others countries also.

Hi, I want to ship a package to the border south of alberta, but i live all the way in calgary. is it possible to ship it to calgary after shipping to to your kinekpoint?

    • Jeremy May 3, 2013 at 8:31 am #

      Hi Timi,

Sorry, KinekPoints do not forward onto Canada for security reasons.

  3. Eric LEROY May 21, 2013 at 8:28 am #

Your service sounds like a great idea , the only problem is many companies will ship ONLY to the address connected to the credit card. Any ideas?

    • Jeremy May 21, 2013 at 9:25 am #

      Hi Eric,

Actually most companies do ship to any valid shipping address. Some limited and specific credit cards will only allow the shipment of goods to an address attached to it, and a few companies limit themselves by only shipping to the billing address. Again, this is the minority for sure and some people simply add their KinekPoint address to their credit card as a secondary address.

Hey i’m just Wondering if there are any extra costs and what they would be. I understand it’s $5 upon pickup if the package is 10lbs or under, whats the cost if the item is heavier or larger?

    • Jeremy September 23, 2013 at 5:38 am #

      Hi Kimberley,

The costs for over 10 lbs are displayed once you sign up. Singing up is free as well.

I keep traveling to the US so I just have the items shipped to my US address but this will probably make it so much more convenient. Sometimes (well almost always) waiting for months when I travel to US isn’t an option so I end up coughing up the extra shipping cost.

Will try this out for sure!

What can we do if we don’t have a car? I’m a student and am looking at buying textbooks for cheaper prices and online seems the best way to go since school bookstores are always way overpriced.

    • Jeremy September 23, 2013 at 5:48 am #

You’re best bet is to tell other students about Kinek and get a carpool going. Someone has a car on campus! You would all save lots!

    • Jeremy June 3, 2014 at 6:32 am #

Airsoft guns under Canadian regulation are ok. Kinek does not accept any type of real guns however.

      • Tim June 25, 2014 at 10:59 am #

I realize you don’t ship firearms but how about components (parts)?

        • Jeremy August 12, 2014 at 4:32 am #

          Hi Tim,

We don’t accept firearms or ammunition. As long as they are regulated parts to bring into Canada that would be fine.

  8. Chris September 21, 2014 at 5:43 am #

could i use more than one location to have my items shipped?

    • Jeremy October 22, 2014 at 7:14 am #

Yes, you can use more than one. In your account simply click “add another KinekPoint”.

Hi, I had a package shipped through Amazon to Computing Express in Detroit a few weeks ago. I was not able to visit the store during their business hours, so I just wanted to confirm that the package is there. I tried calling their number but never received a reply.

    • Jeremy October 22, 2014 at 7:20 am #

      Hi Iva,

We noticed you just signed up for a Kinek account yesterday. You can only be notified via email if you have a Kinek account and you can only ship to a Kinek location by creating an account first. Please also visit and use the support page for any package related questions.

  10. Sam October 23, 2014 at 9:37 am #

Do you accept alcohol. There are certain brands of liquor that are not available near the Canadian border.

    • Jeremy November 21, 2014 at 7:34 am #

      Hi Sam,

You would need to call your KinekPoint directly to ask if they accept alcohol shipments to ensure they have someone 21 or older to accept and sign for it.

I have three questions regarding Kinek Point in Babb, Mt.

Firstly, I am thinking of ordering 2-3 different items from amazon with different companies, if I collect them on the same day, will I still be charged as ONE collection ($4.00) or per items even if the total weight is less than 10lb?

Secondly, do you accept parcels from courier company, e.g. UPS, DHL, etc.

Third, after I signed up I saw my address as:
“3994 US HWY 89, [#my kinek point no.]
    Border Tire & Kinek Pickup
    Babb, MT
Is that the address I enter, including “border tire & kinek pickup”?

    • Jeremy November 21, 2014 at 7:30 am #

      Hi James,

I suggest asking specific questions like this where your account is maintained, over at They have a dedicated support team to help you out.

I’m interested to know how much will it be for you to handle a 900 lbs Sound proof booth room, with the following measures, 5ftx7ftx10ft. The vendor will deliver 2 pallets with tractor trailer.

We are in Mississauga, ON Canada.

Or it will be cheaper if we send our own courier to your Niagara Falls location?

    Have a great day!

    • Jeremy November 21, 2014 at 7:32 am #

      Hi Gaby,

Each location has their own pricing and only a few in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area can handle items that large. I recommend signing up and adding New york Mailbox and Storage Central to your profile to view pricing information.

  13. Jakob November 17, 2014 at 12:56 am #

How do I know its not just a scam and you guys are just keeping the products??

    • Jeremy November 17, 2014 at 6:14 am #

      Hi Jakob,

You can find Kinek on several different forums across the web. We’ve been around for years and have built a network that people trust. All of our locations in our network are trusted businesses.

Hello, i am looking to order Dead, Dried Insects for an Collection. I live in Canada and am ordering them from the USA. The Canadian Food Inspections Agency does not regulate the movement of Dead Insects across borders. My Question is if i live across the border and am within driving distance, can i come pick up package myself and take over the border or does it have to go through a service.

    • Jeremy December 8, 2014 at 6:37 am #

      Hi Brian,

I suggest contacting border services about this.

  15. TG January 17, 2015 at 8:14 am #

If I signed up from your services, and order an item from say vs when the item arrives at your location would you be able to ship the item form there to me? The reason I ask is I don’t have a car or passport to get to your location in the USA.

    • Jeremy February 6, 2015 at 6:58 am #

      Hi TG,

Kinek currently does not forward onto Canada.

  16. Nick January 22, 2015 at 6:07 pm #

Just curious, would the Blaine crossing have any problems accepting 5 vehicle tires, dimensions 35″x12.5X, total weight of the 5 tires being 300lb?

Dare I ask what the fee would be at that weight? Shipping cross border adds 450% to the shipping cost

    • Jeremy February 6, 2015 at 6:59 am #

Blaine location accepts and size and weight, so you won’t have issues.

  17. Cam January 27, 2015 at 9:46 am #

    • Jeremy February 6, 2015 at 6:59 am #

      Hi Cam,

Kinek does not ship items. They receive packages and store them for a limited time.

  18. Ashwin February 1, 2015 at 11:34 am #

Hello, I am looking to buy items online, but the website do not accept a Canadian Billing Address for the Credit Card Payment. How does this work?

When you say no brokerage fees, i will still have to pay once i cross the US/Canadian Border right?

    • Jeremy February 6, 2015 at 7:02 am #

      Hi Ashwin,

Most people just enter in the KinekPoint address as the billing as well if that’s all that’s offered.

You just pay HST at the border when bringing your items back. There’s no import or brokerage fees.

  19. Jag March 1, 2015 at 12:44 am #

What’s the address where I can ship to I live in surrey (Vancouver )and how much it’s gonna cost me.

    • Jeremy March 3, 2015 at 9:11 am #

      Hi Jag,

You would need to sign up for an account to recieve the address. Each person recives a Kinek# when you sign up which is embedded in the address. The location in Blaine, Washington currently charges $5 per package for any package under 100 lbs.

  20. Sarah April 8, 2015 at 6:47 pm #

If I get something shipped to a kinek point, do I have to pay duty on it when I bring it into Canada?

    • Jeremy April 23, 2015 at 5:34 am #

      Hi Sarah,

You would just be paying the HST of the province you’re entering into. There’s no taxes or import fees since you’re bringing the item back across yourself. If you stay in the US more than 24 hours you can cross tax free under certain limits as well.

  21. malboeuf raymond April 14, 2015 at 2:15 am #

  22. Rosslyn April 18, 2015 at 7:51 pm #

      Yes, it would be $5.

  23. Jane July 2, 2015 at 2:13 pm #

Is there any way that I can ship my package to one of the locations and then have the location send it to me if I can’t make it to pick it up?

    • Nate July 8, 2015 at 4:01 pm #

      Hi Jane,

At this time, Kinek does not offer package forwarding services. Instead, you, a family member, or friend would need to pick up the package from one our KinekPoints. A family member or friend would need a copy of your photo ID and the receipt for the item to pick-up on your behalf.

  24. Guy July 14, 2015 at 5:25 am #

    Hi Jeremy
I am wondering, is it 5$ per box?. What if my order contain multiples boxes?

    • Nate July 14, 2015 at 7:40 am #

      Hi Guy,

Pricing is based on a per package fee. If you receive multiple packages, you will need to pay for each one individually.

  25. Sam Liyon October 3, 2015 at 2:19 am #

Can I use your service to ship goods to a U S address. I live in Kingston ON.

Yes, you certainly can. All you need to do is sign up for an account at and choose a KinekPoint that is convenient for you.

  26. AS October 9, 2015 at 6:05 pm #

I was wondering if our purchase cost exceeds the duty fee limit, would we be charged at the border for it? As we wouldn’t really be paying you for the purchase, we would have purchased it online. I am wanting to have a camera shipped.

    • Jeremy November 2, 2015 at 5:54 am #

      Hi there,

You pay the HST if you exceed the duty free limit.

  27. Benny November 22, 2015 at 1:15 am #

Hey im just wondering if your shipping address is considered a P.O. box ? and how could i use the shipping address if the place where im buying form says they only ship to the paypal address?

    • Jeremy November 23, 2015 at 5:28 am #

      Hi Benny,

Kinek provides full shipping addresses. However, if the company only ships to the PayPal address you’re typical out of luck. In that case I suggest calling the retailer and asking them if they can provide any other options. Sometimes you can try inserting the KinekPoint address as the billing as well and see if it goes through.

  28. Murtaza November 24, 2015 at 8:21 pm #

I am looking to buy overstock liquidation merchandise in the states. I was thinking of using a Kinek point as my US address. Would a Kinek point store a Skid shipment with multiple items in it?

    • Jeremy November 25, 2015 at 6:05 am #

      Hi Murtaza,

Each location in the Kinek network has different limitations, but many offer skid/pallet storage for (x) amount of days. Once you sign up for the service you can conveniently select different locations to see what they offer.

  29. Benny November 26, 2015 at 12:10 pm #

Hey im wondering if this is a P.O. box ???

    • Jeremy November 26, 2015 at 12:16 pm #

      Hi Benny,

Kinek provides full shipping addresses. It’s not considered a PO box.
