Summer is fast approaching (never quite fast enough though) and with it, all sorts of summer activities and sports. Since I haven’t posted anything in a few days, I thought I’d let you know about a few items I had shipped to the US border for me to pick up, and another from a friend.
Bike pedals and shoes
I’ve always been into mountain biking since I was a kid, but over the past few years I’ve taken quite an interest in road biking. Well, I’m happy to say that after a few years of indecision, I’ve finally bit-the-bullet and bought a road bike. I was originally going to buy it in the US as well, but because getting it from a local shop meant I got lifetime tune-ups and great service, I got it there instead. Of course it is always nice to support local shops when the premium isn’t too large.
While I bought the bike locally, I decided to look south for the accessories and I’m glad I did. I bought a pair of great clipless pedals and a pair of clipless shoes to go with them. I had already budgeted how much I wanted to pay for the pedal/shoe combination so when I found the ones I was looking for in the US, the savings we enough to let me upgrade a few levels to even better equipment for the same price.
I went and picked up my packages at the US border late last week and took the bike out for the first time on the weekend. No buyers remorse here!
Want to know how to ship items to locations on the border? Check out our US Shipping Address section! It tells you all about registering with Kinek in order to user their network of US border Kinek Points as your US shipping address! You can also check out www.kinek.com/border to learn more.
Hockey equipment
These particular savings aren’t mine, but instead a friend’s. His kids play tons of hockey and the summer roller hockey season is starting up in a few weeks time. After checking the prices for a list of equipment locally, he decided to do a little research online. He quickly found out that he could get the same equipment from a US store and have it shipped to a Kinek Point on the US border and in the process save hundreds of dollars.
It’s hard to turn down savings like that so he’s gone ahead and placed the order and will be picking them up sometime next week. That’s one of the great things about shipping to the border, Kinek Points are willing to hold onto your orders for a couple of weeks until you are able to drop-by and pick them up.

Enjoy your cross border shopping!
I buy basketball kicks from the U.S. constantly…and I’m glad I found this website because I get hit with huge brokerage fees every time! I can’t stand getting ripped off because Canada doesn’t have a place to ship me shoes for a decent price. I am going to start shipping to the border and pick it up myself.
PS – THANK YOU!
Thanks for the comment Frank! Didn’t realize that basketball shoes can be frustration for Canadian shoppers. We may look into this some more!
